Can We Make Zero-Waste Wearable? When and Why Fabric Waste Makes Sense

Home sewists: What's the deal with zero-waste sewing? If the goal is to make clothing that will be in constant rotation in our wardrobe, when does it make sense to make compromises on waste, and when should we pursue zero-waste garment construction? In this video, I dig into the origins of the zero-waste (ZW) movement for home sewists, reflect on my own journey with ZW, compare and contrast patterns that are ZW versus standard or low waste, and offer you some alternative solutions to reduce your fabric waste. We also get to try out a new-to-me pattern: the Craft Studio Tee by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club that I make from all secondhand materials. Let me know: What's your stance on ZW sewing? Do you have any patterns that are tried and true? Where do you compromise on fabric waste in the name of your dream wardrobe piece? Thank you for watching! Patterns mentioned in the video:
